Message from the Vice-Chancellor of the University of Yaoundé I
Dear members of the university community, dear partners, dear students,
It is with deep gratitude and a strong sense of responsibility that I assume the role of Vice-Chancellor of the University of Yaoundé I. Our institution, rich in history and tradition, stands at the forefront of higher education in Central Africa.
With my experience leading the University of Bertoua and the National Advanced School of Engineering of Yaoundé, I am committed to strengthening our dedication to academic excellence and innovative research. My background in applied mathematics has taught me the importance of rigor and a methodical approach—values I wish to see reflected across all our disciplines.
I pledge to foster an environment that promotes intellectual growth, where every student and staff member can thrive and contribute meaningfully to society. The employability of our graduates will be a key priority, aligning our programs with real labor market needs and strengthening partnerships with local and international industries.
We will accelerate the digitalization of our academic and administrative services to ensure efficient and transparent management. Investments will be made in modern and sustainable infrastructure while preserving our cultural and environmental heritage.
I firmly believe that diversity and inclusion are essential pillars of innovation. Therefore, we will cultivate an open and inclusive culture where every voice is heard and valued.
Together, let us work to ensure that the University of Yaoundé I continues to shine as a beacon of knowledge and innovation, not only in Cameroon but across the African continent.
With determination and hope.
Pr. Rémy Magloire Dieudonné ETOUA, Recteur de l’Université de Yaoundé I
